Mix It Up a Little!

We have already established that there is no ‘silver bullet’ when it comes to marketing. Effective marketing is comprised of many different types of activities that work together and complement each other to reach your goals. It is called a “Marketing Mix” (see more below).

The new year is a perfect time to examine your marketing mix and consider if you should mix it up a little. Maybe you should try pay-per-click ads or exhibit at that trade show you had your eye on for years? What about those dated brochures you have… is it time to have them rewritten and redesigned? Have you tried promoting special offers to your customers using SMS (text messages)? What about your logo – is it dated? Even the biggest brands out there make changes to their logos over time…

The possibilities are many and the combinations endless. We encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and try new things and new ways of doing old things. There are several reasons to mix things up in marketing, and here are the main ones:

  • Content and images are dated and do not reflect current offerings or your target market’s preferences and interests
  • Availability of new options, tools, and ways to market that you haven’t tried yet
  • Tactics once too expensive have come down in cost
  • What was ‘too new’ and perhaps not very effective previously, is now improved and proven
  • Your target audience became desensitized to what you do, and you need to make them notice your brand again

We are not suggesting that you drop everything and introduce all new marketing efforts. We are merely encouraging you to objectively examine what you have been doing and what is available for you, carefully experiment with new stuff, and adjust accordingly.

Doing so with the help of marketing professionals is the best way to go about it. Even if you have an in-house marketing team, it might be advisable to solicit the help of an outside marketing firm. An outsourced marketing team can introduce fresh perspective, will be more readily willing to share opinions objectively, and will likely introduce you to marketing tactics you were unaware of or lacking the in-house resources to implement.

If you want a fresh perspective on your marketing with no obligations on your part, call us or write us with your biggest marketing or sales challenge – we will be happy to help!
